From 1966-1979, Arthur Houghton was a member of the US Foreign Service
with assignments to Beirut, Amman and Cairo and to the National Security Council
staff. He was Associate Curator and Curator in Charge, J. Paul Getty
Museum, Malibu, CA; from 1988-1995, senior staff member, White House Office of
National Drug Control Policy; and from 1995-2005 president of Arthur Houghton
Associates, Inc., a Washington, D.C. consulting firm. He is the author of
four books and numerous articles on ancient coinages, economics, art and
history. He has served on the boards of the American School of Classical
Studies at Athens, the Cyprus-American Archaeological Research Institute, the
Corning Museum of Glass, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the American Numismatic
Society (and as ANS president from 1996-2000), among others. He was a
member of the President's Cultural Property Advisory Committee from
1984-1987. |
